Transforming Riyadh into a Global Hub
Across two days, Riyadh became a meeting point for ministries, government leaders, sovereign and institutional investors, rights holders, sporting IPs and key decision makers all focused on accelerating the commercial potential of sport across the Middle East and beyond.
MESIF again helped transform Riyadh into a global hub for sports, entertainment and investment, in doing so, it highlighted the city, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as one of the key driving forces shaping the future of global sports.

The Development of the Sports Sector in Saudi Arabia
Ibrahim S. Almoaiqel, Assistant Deputy Minister for Investment & Privatisation, Ministry of Sport, KSA, highlighted the remarkable pace of development across Saudi Arabia. Reflecting on the transformation of the surrounding area into a thriving sports and entertainment destination now anchored by Kingdom Arena, he noted that this progress reflects the wider momentum behind the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 ambitions.

Investment Opportunities & Sector Growth
Throughout MESIF Riyadh 2026, there was constant discussion around the latest investment prospects within sports and entertainment, underpinned by Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 ambitions. The Ministry of Sport and Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia outlined how the Kingdom is positioning itself as a magnet for capital, with various investment opportunities and cross border collaboration across the GCC and wider Middle East.

The Kingdom Arena
The host to the main day of MESIF Riyadh 2026 was the iconic Kingdom Arena, a venue that symbolises Saudi Arabia’s rapid transformation in sports, entertainment and infrastructure. The 30,000-capacity multipurpose venue that sits within the Boulevard entertainment District, spanning over 40,000 square meters, was built in less than 90 days. The impressive arena has hosted a Tyson Fury boxing fight, WWE, Tennis exhibitions, the CAF Super Cup as well of course being home to Al Hilal Saudi Club.

World Class Arenas, Infrastructure, Legacy and Mega Events
MESIF Riyadh 2026 explored world-class arenas, infrastructure, legacy and mega events, with the Saudi Arabian 2034 FIFA World Cup looming, these were all key focus areas. A key takeaway from the discussion was the importance of ensuring that the development of world-class arenas is sustainable in order to generate diversified revenue streams.
There were also panel sessions and presentations that explored how the Middle East, and Saudi Arabia in particular, are reinventing the global benchmark for sports infrastructure. There has been a clear shift from simply constructing venues for sports to developing multi-purpose entertainment complexes that represent their communities, improve fan experience, and deliver year-round engagement.

Commercials in Sport
The conversation then moved away from stadiums, legacy and mega events to highlighting how the regions sports ecosystem is rapidly evolving from a focus on star signings and infrastructure toward building sustainable brands, media products, and commercial partnerships.
From a club perspective, Al Hilal shared how it is building a globally competitive football brand through strategic content investment, strong digital engagement, and a long-term organisational vision that extends beyond individual players or short-term sporting results.

Technology, Innovation & Transformation
Technology was also on the agenda, with experts from the Ministry of Sport, Misk Foundation, TAIT, Esports World Cup Foundation and Sideline exploring how tech is already changing sport in the Middle East. It became clear that AI powered decision making is now becoming increasingly influential in the global sports industry, notably in esports.
The conversation further explored how esports can be a unique entry point for the younger generation to move into careers such as live production, creative design, and broadcasting. Moreover, the next era will be defined by technology-enabled ecosystems that simultaneously serve fans, rights holders, and commercial partners.

Social Impact & Grassroots Development
The Forum also spotlighted sport’s role as a driver of social impact and inclusion. Sessions looked at grassroots participation, gender inclusivity and the broader socioeconomic effects of sport-led development, reinforcing that investment must also be measured in community value, not just financial returns.

Final Remarks
MESIF Riyadh 2026 reinforced the Forum’s position as a leading international platform for driving strategic collaboration, unlocking cross-border investment opportunities and shaping long-term legacy within global sports.
